Bill Lowe
President, Sammons Institutional Group
William (Bill) Lowe is president, Sammons Institutional Group, Inc. (SIG), a business unit of Iowa-based Sammons Financial Group. SIG provides individual retirement solutions to financial professionals in banks and broker/dealers through its wholesale divisions, Sammons Retirement Solutions and Midland Retirement Distributors. He was named to that position in May 2011 upon joining Sammons Financial Group. In that capacity, Bill also serves on the boards of both Midland National Life and North American, Sammons Financial Group’s life insurance and annuity companies.
Prior to joining Sammons Financial Group, Bill spent 17 years at ING in a variety of leadership roles. In his over 40 years in the financial services industry, Bill has managed a broker/dealer, run 401(k), IRAs, and annuity businesses, and has a successful track record of creating and distributing 401(k) plans, variable annuities, fixed annuities, life insurance, mutual fund products, and managed accounts. Bill is a General Securities Principal, Investment Advisory Representative, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Fellow of the Life Management Institute.
He is currently on the boards of the Insured Retirement Institute (Washington, D.C.), and Meals from the Heartland (West Des Moines, Iowa). Bill earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and computer science from Doane University (Crete, Nebraska) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College. He has also participated in executive programs at Harvard, Dartmouth, and the University of Chicago, and completed the General Management Program at the European Centre for Executive Development at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
