St. Francis House

St. Francis House volunteers

Founded in 1987, St. Francis House offers emergency and transitional housing to homeless people in Sioux Falls, S.D. The facility holds beds for 30 men, 42 women, and three families. In addition to providing individuals with a warm and safe place to stay, St. Francis House provides comprehensive case management. This includes assistance with obtaining and maintaining employment, securing transportation, enrolling children in school or childcare, managing money, and other general life skills.

Our partnership with St. Francis House began in 2014. Monetary donations totaling $72,000 have been used to supply meals, housing, and basic necessities to the homeless population. Recently, Sammons Financial Group contributed to the construction of St. Francis House’s new facility. The first phase of the building is scheduled to be done by December 2019, and the second phase by July 2020.

In addition to our employees giving clothing, household items, bath towels, kitchen supplies, and hygiene products to St. Francis House, many also volunteer their time. Activities include serving meals, completing yard work and maintenance, cleaning, and administrative work. Sammons Financial Group employees dedicate an average of 41.5 hours to St. Francis House every year.
